"Experiences shape our thoughts"
- Growing up in Miles City, Montana, I learned to love history, horses and the “cowboy way.” - Serving in the U.S. Army Special Forces, I gained a deep appreciation for “outside the box” thinking and the unconventional methods of doing things. - When I taught school and coached on an Indian Reservation, I realized the need to adapt to an unfamiliar culture. - Working as a U.S. Forest Service Smokejumper, I saw the value of improvising and adjusting to changing and stressful situations and conditions to get the job done. - In a 25 year career as a U.S. Border Patrol agent, I learned the value of being a good field detective (tracker and signcutter). Based on these exposures and the collection of experiences, I have developed some unique and effective methods of instruction dealing with Tracking, Signcutting, Stalking, Tactical Trailing, Equine Operations and the sharpening of Observation, Detection and Deduction skills. |
